Clay Brick Making Machine Maintenance Tips
Most breakdowns we see in the field are preventable. Here are the habits that keep a clay brick machine running for years with minimal downtime — the same things we tell every buyer when we deliver a machine.
1Check and grease moving parts on a fixed schedule
Don't wait for a part to start sounding rough. Set a weekly or fortnightly routine to check and grease bearings, joints, and any moving mechanical parts. Regular greasing is the single cheapest way to extend the life of a brick machine.
2Keep clay consistency steady before it enters the machine
Feeding clay that's too wet, too dry, or has stones and debris mixed in puts uneven strain on the machine and accelerates wear. A few minutes of consistent clay preparation before each run reduces stress on the mechanism significantly.
3Listen for changes in sound during operation
A machine running normally has a consistent sound. A new grinding, knocking, or rattling noise is almost always an early warning sign — stop and investigate rather than continuing to run and hoping it resolves itself.
4Check belts, chains, and fasteners regularly
Vibration during operation gradually loosens bolts and stretches belts over time. A quick visual and manual check before each work day catches most of these issues before they cause a stoppage.
5Train more than one operator
If only one person knows how to run and troubleshoot the machine, a single absence can stop production entirely. Make sure at least two people on-site understand normal operation and basic troubleshooting.
6Keep basic spare parts on hand
Simple mechanical parts — the kind that wear out predictably — are worth keeping a spare of on-site, rather than ordering only after a breakdown stops production. Ask your manufacturer which parts are the most common to need replacing.
